A Recognized Examination Centre for the International Tests: DELF & DALF
- The DELF (Diplôme d’études en langue française) and the DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française) are offered in 1025 examination centres throughout 161 countries, including Canada.
- These diplomas are official diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify foreign candidates’ proficiency in French.
- In Manitoba, it is being implemented in the River East Transcona School Division thanks to the logistic support of the Alliance Francaise du Manitoba.
- The rating systems of these tests are based on the global language scale of competences designed by the European Council: the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the CEFR.
- They each assess the candidate’s level in speaking, writing, listening and reading (the exam is divided into two parts listening comprehension, written production, and written comprehension are tested in a written exam and speaking and oral interaction are tested in a one-on-one exam) .
DELF Junior
The DELF Junior is meant for children and adolescents.. It has the same basic structure as the standard DELF. Only the topics are different: the materials take into account the interests of young people.
There are four diplomas for teenagers and schoolchildren:
DELF A1 recognizes basic knowledge targeting the most basic level at which a language is used. The candidate can interact in a simple way: he/she can speak about him/herself and his/her immediate environment.
DELF A2 recognizes the linguistic competency of a basic user. The candidate can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring the most common polite phrases and exchanges of information.
DELF B1 can maintain interaction; he/she can understand and maintain a discussion and give his/her opinion. He/she is capable of dealing with situations likely to arise in daily life.
DELF B2 has a degree of independence that allows him/her to construct arguments to defend his/her opinion, explain his/her viewpoint and negotiate. At this level, the candidate has a degree of fluency and spontaneity in regular interactions and is capable of correcting his/her own mistakes. Certification at the B2 level can be used to qualify for entrance into French speaking educational institutions.
We also offer the DELF and DALF general public versions two times per year, in June and November.
